Transfer Molding Type
Achieved miniaturization of Intelligent Power Module |

Outline |
 |
 |
 |
As inverters are becoming rapidly popular in both industrial and commercial fields based on the needs for energy saving and miniaturization, the DIP-IPM Series is being adopted by many clients. However,
more miniaturization and lower thermal resistance are desired for
usage in small capacity motor driven inverters for appliances such
as air conditioners, refrigerators and washers which have a higher
rate of shifting to inverters. In order to accommodate the
demand for miniaturization and lower thermal resistance, we have
developed the Transfer Molding Type Intelligent Power Module by
adopting new discontinuous construction with high heat release
and by miniaturizing our existing line. |

Features |
 |
 |
 |
By adopting high heat-release new discontinuous construction, it was possible to lower thermal resistance and bring the temperature increase of the module under control. With
this technology, it was possible to miniaturize the packaging,
and we have achieved miniaturization of the packaging area to approximately
60% of our existing line of small DIP-IPM Ver.3 (5 –15A). |
 |
By introduction of a lead-free soldering process for the power elements, we have achieved a lead-free interior while assuring high reliability. Along with the lead-free solder plating at the terminal, we have completely eliminated lead use for greater environmental friendliness. |
