Outline |
Recently, along with miniaturization and high-density packaging of optical transceivers, a wider operation temperature range is required in semiconductor lasers for optical communication.
Although we have been producing Distributed Feedback Laser Diodes
(DFBLD) — ML9xx40 series — that can transmit 2.5 Gbps, 100 km under 0°C – 85°C since 2003, we have commercialized the ML9xx43 series with a wider temperature range operation (20°C – 95°C operation), to accommodate such usage. |

Features |
Enables 2.5 Gbps, 100 km transmission within a
wide temperature range. We have achieved 2.5 Gbps, 100 km transmission
in an industry-leading operation temperature range of 20°C
– 95°C. It contributes to the miniaturization and high-density
packaging of optical transceivers. |
Slope efficiency has been largely improved.
We have considerably improved conversion efficiency (slope efficiency) from electricity to light. (Approximately 30% improvement from our existing product ML9xx40 series). This contributes to lower electricity consumption in optical transceivers. |

Applications |
Perfect for small optical transceivers such as SFP (Small Form Factor Pluggable). |

Future Deployment |
We intend to continue development of new products in other wave bands and optical transmission laser diodes for other applications, targeting applications in wider temperature ranges, as well.
Sampling period: Mass production has already started. |
